Jordan Peele bought Corey Feldman's 'Stand by Me' prosthetic ear at auction: 'I realize how scary it was'

Jordan Peele spoke to Corey Feldman about his collection of movie memorabilia. The latest piece of film history added by the Oscar-winning actor? Feldman's prosthetic ear from the 1986 movie "Stand by Me".

Peele has confirmed he was the one to win the October 2021 auction of the infamous accessory worn by then-star Feldman, who held the sale around his own 50th birthday. "There was a whole thing where he was auctioning off the ear he wore as Teddy on 'Stand by Me' and I guess I bought it in a very creepy way," Peele explained during a recent appearance on "Late Night with Seth Meyers".

The 'No' writer-director continued, "As I say it out loud, I realize how scary it was. It's not the thing you should be sharing."

And according to Peele, Feldman approved of the hands the ear fell into. "I told him about it and he was like, 'Wait, do you have the ear?'" Peele said. "I was like, 'Yeah' and he was like, 'Man, I'm so glad it's you.'"

Peele met Feldman while hosting Film at Lincoln Center's "The Lost Rider: A Chronicle of Hollywood Sacrifice" series, which provides context for the story of his own 2022 film, "Nope." The series features Feldman films such as "Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter" and "Stand by Me", as well as the previously unreleased film "The Birthday".

"I have a new friendship with Corey Feldman, which I'm very proud of," Peele said. “He invited me and my producer to his house. We went to his house, it was great. He has memories and stuff. By the way, if you don't know Corey Feldman, that means — first of all — fuck you, you're a kid. But she's, like, one of the greatest teenage icons of all time."

Peele shared, "We're visiting and he's got this movie he showed called 'The Anniversary' that wasn't released. If you're a movie buff who's just in for a full what-what- the-F-did-I-just-watch is that treasure So the thing kind of leads to that missing movie because the movie “No” itself is about exploitation and erasure. "

Peele said of Feldman, "I'm happy to consider him a friend."

Feldman previously teased that the buyer of the “Stand by Me” ear, which he wore as the Teddy Duchamp character when his abusive on-screen father burned his ear, will have endless opportunities to use the additional appendix. "I don't know what you're going to do with your ear," Feldman said at the time. "Wear it for Halloween, throw darts at it, use it as a coaster! The possibilities are endless."

Part of the proceeds from the 2021 auction went to LET ME HELP, a foundation that supports anti-bullying, cancer victims, and COVID-19 relief. NFTs of the ear in question were also sold.
