Joseph RTW Fall 2023

After viewing the works of American sculptor Richard Serra, Joseph's co-creative directors Anna Lundback Dyhr and Frederik Dyhr thought of the colors black, white and copper.

The Paris-based husband and wife duo said they work similarly to Serra, both practices being based on the idea of longevity and the search for the perfection of original ideas.

"There are many looks around us, looks at others, but for us, it's important to keep looking within and being timeless, sophisticated and effortless,” Frederik said of the collections he's been designing with his wife since October 2020.

For Fall 2023, they continued to focus on sharp, yet comfortable garments. There was a black double-breasted Milano knit jacket with matching trousers; a silky finish raincoat and Joseph's signature barcoded stripes on separate pieces and tie-dye on a dress.

The duo have also introduced a new fabric to their lexicon, tweed, which they say s inspired by Joseph's British fabric. roots.

"We asked our friends in Italy how they could reinterpret tweed in a slightly more modern," said Frederik, adding that Joseph's tweed is smooth and without the tassel effect often found on traditional tweed jackets.

A black bonded leather coat with white painted edges was another winning design. It smelled dominatrix, but there was nothing scary about it.

Accessories included oversized leather bags, clutches and high sandals. "We wanted to elongate the silhouette by creating a new sandal with a high heel that we didn't have before," Anna said, referring to the shoe's chunky block heel.

"Our wife walks strongly and forcefully," Anna added, mimicking walking with her hands.
