Keanu Reeves mistakenly 'cut off a man's head' in 'John Wick' filming accident: 'It's really screwed up'

Keanu Reeves revealed in a short story that he once split a man's head open during of a stunt scene gone wrong while making one of the "John Wick" movies. Reeves has four "John Wick" movies under his belt, and the action franchise has him doing crazy stunts involving speeding cars, nunchucks, swords and more.

"Well I mean everyone is pretty tired - but this is the best type of fatigue," Reeves said when asked about the type of accidents that took place on the action-packed "John Wick" sets. "It's like climbing a mountain now that you're resting; like you've finished the game and won."

"So in terms of accidents: I made a mistake once - I opened a gentleman's head," Reeves continued. “So this really sucks – excuse my language. But other than that…oh, a guy got hit by a car. He was in the car, so he had to go to the hospital, but he was fine. All this to say that you have to be careful. But it's great that everyone [on set] pays attention to each other."

Reeves concluded, "There are bruises and aches and pains, but [imitates the official PSA announcement] 'No humans were harmed during the making of this movie!'

Variety contacted "John Wick" distributor Lionsgate for further comment .

"John Wick: Chapter 4" is the latest installment in the franchise, and Reeves already has it told Total Film magazine that it was the most difficult action film he had ever had to make.

"'John Wick: Chapter 4' has the most action of all ['John Wick ' ] movies, which is saying a lot," he said. "And that's more by a good margin. It's a great show… 'John Wick: Chapter 4' was the most physical role I've ever had in my career so far. They really trained me to have what we call the toolbox."

Reeves spent nearly three months training exclusively for the stunts of "John Wick: Chapter 4". The most difficult to prepare was a car stunt in which Reeves' character races around the historic Arc de Triomphe in Paris, France. The actor had to learn how to do an inverted 180 and drift while reloading his prop gun and shooting it out the door.

“It's been about 12 weeks of training. These are new levels of action,” Reeves said in a featurette for the sequel. "You know, nun-chucks, what was tough... John Wick's action just takes a little more. And you see the effort and commitment of the team.”

In "John Wick: Chapter 4", Reeves' eponymous assassin faces new enemies and finds old friends on his mission to destroy the evil High Table once and for all. Reeves is joined by Bill Skarsgård as Marquis, Donnie Yen as Caine, Laurence Fishburne as Bowery King, Lance Reddick as Charon, Rina Sawayama as Akira, Shamier Anderson as Tracker, Hiroyuki Sanada as Shimazu, Scott Adkins as Killa, and Ian McShane as Winston.

"John Wick: Chapter 4" hits theaters March 24 from Lionsgate.
