Keir Starmer paid £99,431 in tax last year, according to a summary of his returns published by the Labor Party.

The summary shows almost half of the total. - £44,308 - was paid in income tax while the Labor leader also handed over £52,688 in capital gains following the sale of a field in December 2022 which partly belonged to him and partly to the estate from his father.

It was previously reported that Mr Starmer sold land he bought in the 1990s for his parents, who used it to care for neglected donkeys .

Reports at the time put the sale at £400,000. According to the latest tax statement, Mr Starmer made £275,739 from the sale of the land.
