Kevin Spacey faces sexual abuse trial in New York

Oscar-winning actor Kevin Spacey is due to stand trial Thursday in a civil trial for sexually assaulting a boy 36 years ago.

M. Spacey is being sued in New York by Anthony Rapp, who claims the actor touched him inappropriately at a party in 1986 when he was 14.

Mr Spacey, 63, faces five separate sexual assault charges in the UK.

The House of Cards actor denied the allegations against him.

Mr. Rapp, now 51 and also an actor, and Mr Spacey are expected to be in the Manhattan federal courthouse when the trial opens with jury selection on Thursday.

Mr. Rapp says Mr Spacey was around 26 or 27 when he met him at a party in his Manhattan apartment.

In an October 2017 Buzzfeed article, Mr. Rapp said that Mr. Spacey lifted him, placed him on a bed and partially laid him on top of him .

"I was aware that he was trying to have sex with me," Mr. Rapp said.

His lawsuit says the alleged encounter lasted no more than two minutes and "there was no kissing, no undressing, no reaching under clothes , and no sexualized statements or innuendo".
