Kyle Chrisley arrested for assault in Tennessee

Todd Chrisley's son, Kyle Chrisley, is in serious trouble with the law himself -- though it's resulted in significantly less time behind bars -- at least so far.

A representative from the Rutherford County Jail in Tennessee told TMZ … Kyle was arrested and convicted of aggravated assault on Tuesday, and was released after posting $3,000 bond. We're told he was arrested by Smyrna PD...and didn't look too happy with his photo ID.

We are still working out the details of what led him to prison.

Kyle's arrest comes 2 months after his father began serving time in federal prison for bank fraud and tax evasion.

Todd is serving a 12-year sentence, while his wife, Julie, is serving a 7-year sentence.

Things have been strained between Todd and Kyle over the years...with the former having won custody of Kyle's daughter, Chloe. Kyle accused his dad of using him for TV ratings, and for a while things weren't good between them on "Chrisley Knows Best."

However, Kyle said they fixed the fences, and he asked the public not to judge.
