Kylie Minogue Announces Las Vegas Residency, Teases New Album 'Tension'

Kylie Minogue is officially bringing her beating heart to Las Vegas. The "Padam Padam" singer will launch her first residency in the United States on November 3 at the Venetian Resort's new Voltaire performance hall.

Tickets go on sale August 9. Minogue made the announcement Thursday afternoon at a press preview and reception at the Pendry Hotel in West Hollywood.

"I've played Vegas a few times, but as part of a tour, and particularly when I did the Showgirl tour in 2004 - at that time we were like, "Oh, this looks like a show in Las Vegas." Then when I did Aphrodite, which was a tour with so many 'aqueducts in precision fountains,'" Minogue explained. "My team at the time kept saying, 'why isn't it in Vegas? We have to do it at some point.'"< /p>

She added: "Years ago I thought I wanted to do this when I was younger, I don't want to do it when I'm at the sunset of my career, so I think I've made it somewhere in the middle where I feel like I've earned the right and have the experience to truly enjoy being there."

The "Can't Get You Out of My Head" singer also teased what fans might be able to expect the upcoming homesharing to be a mix of "intimate moments" and "flashy stuff", though those final details have yet to be ironed out.

"I want this to be kind of the essence of what a Kylie show has become , pretty glamorous and give up. I have versions of songs that haven't been heard, like reinterpretations of songs, which is exciting. Live bed dances, amazing costumes. That's the base and then we'll see what surprises we can find," she revealed.

The announcement follows the success of Minogue's summer dance anthem "Padam Padam and ahead of the September 22 release of his highly anticipated next album, “Tension.” The song bridged the generations and became a TikTok phenomenon, with longtime Minogue friend and label exec Jamie Nelson telling Variety earlier this month that there are a lot of potential hits on the album, which is apparently "more electronic" than Minogue's 2020 "Disco" record.

As for some songs on the album like "Vegas High", Minogue described it as the "last piece of the puzzle" for the upcoming project.

"It was a day in the studio where I spoke with my A&R and he told me said, "Is there a way to add a song about Las Vegas?" I had already tried. We had not succeeded,” she explained on Thursday. "It's just hard to find the right balance between all the elements of Vegas, but we did it in one day. We were talking about going to Vegas, the possibilities. It's a scintillating thing in the distance. If you fly or drive, the roads get drier and the mood changes, and as the saying goes, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. It's just its own little wonderland."< /p>

The Grammy winner teased the residency earlier this week with a video posted to her platforms social media footage showing Andy Cohen, Kelly Clarkson, Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager asking him about the rumors during various TV talk show appearances.

The 1,000-seat Voltaire, created by Venetian content director Michael Gruber and designed by Emmy- and Tony Award-winning set designer Derek McLane will host concerts, DJs and burlesque performers. The space theme is Belle de Nuit, or Beauty of the Night.

Minogue rose to fame in her native Australia when she starred in Australian soap opera "Neighbours" in in the 1980s before becoming a pop star with infectious dance singles including "I Should Be So Lucky", "The Loco-Motion", "Hand on Your Heart" and later, "Can't Get You Out of My Head".

She was a judge on "The Voice UK" and "The Voice Australia".
