L2 is crucial for Ethereum's decentralization and censorship resistance, says researcher

Swedish researcher Eric Wall highlighted StarkNet's influence on Ethereum scalability as he joins the board of the new StarkNet Foundation.

L2 is crucial to Ethereum decentralization, censorship resistance, says researcher Interview

Ethereum Layer-2 scaling platform StarkWare has officially launched the StarkNet Foundation with the introduction of a diverse board that aims to protect Ethereum's decentralization and censorship resistance.< /p>

Seven people, including key members of the Ethereum ecosystem and broader cryptocurrency space, will lead the nonprofit entity. An announcement shared with Cointelegraph outlined the StarkNet Foundation's role in ensuring the maintenance and security of StarkNet's network as well as its development and expansion.

Cointelegraph has contacted Eric Wall to announce his appointment to the Foundation's Board of Directors. Wall is a blockchain researcher and whistleblower who has exposed systemic flaws in large-scale cryptocurrency projects. Wall also acts as a cryptocurrency advisor to the Human Rights Foundation.

Wall highlighted systemic efforts to help Ethereum continue to scale through Layer 2 innovations as key to the continued success of the smart contract blockchain network:

“Given that Ethereum is the most important DeFi chain we have, I am very keen to ensure that it adheres to the ethics of decentralization and censorship resistance. This battle takes place at the base layer, but must also take place at the higher layers. »

Wall told Cointelegraph that his motivation for joining the Foundation was to ensure that "one of the most important second layers of Ethereum" didn't neglect the ethics of the underlying blockchain:

“StarkWare is probably the most important player in the ecosystem in pioneering proof-of-validity systems that many believe are absolutely critical to the endgame of Ethereum scalability, and StarkNet is the versatile platform leveraging this technology"

Wall highlighted the Foundation's role in managing relationships with ecosystem partners and developers as well as awarding grants. This includes...
