Lavia snubs Liverpool in favor of Chelsea

According to multiple sources, Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia has chosen Chelsea over Liverpool as his next club and is set to join the Blues in the coming days.

The race between Chelsea and Liverpool for Lavia has been closely linked to that of Moises Caicedo. The Ecuadorian eventually joined Chelsea in a £115million deal and delivered the first blow to Liverpool, and Lavia has now added injury insult to the Merseysiders by taking the same move.

Both Premier League giants had offers for Lavia accepted by Southampton, and Liverpool's would have ultimately been higher. But although it was initially believed that the 19-year-old was in favor of a move to Anfield, he has obviously changed his mind and will go to Stamford Bridge instead.

Liverpool managed to leave Chelsea's home ground unbeaten in their opener on Sunday, but these transfer setbacks have surely left them in dire straits over their plans to rebuild the midfield.
