Let the Splashing Begin: Legoland New York Resort Prepares for Water Playground Opening

JUST ADD WATER: As Memorial Day weekend marks the start of the swimming season for millions around the world, thousands will flock to another splash-prone destination: the all-new water playground at Legoland New York Resort.

Whether sliding, frolicking or cooling off in the vibrant blue pools, paddling pools and attractions powered by water, the playground features water slides and a splash bucket that sprinkles with 318 gallons of refreshing water.

Located in the more serene Hudson Valley in Goshen, the water park is the latest addition to seven themed lands that include Brick Street, Bricktopia, Lego Ninjago World, Lego Castle, Lego City, Miniland and Lego Pirates. Visitors can enjoy non-water attractions including the Lego Factory Adventure Ride, Lego Ninjago the Ride, the Dragon Coaster, and Lego-built towns at Miniland.

True to its colorful, transforming, buildable namesake toy, water park visitors can build a boat Lego to float and race. Visitors under 12 can only hit the waves under adult supervision. Age is not the only criterion for access - size matters too.

Guests taller than 40 inches can ride all slides at the Water Playground, but those taller than over 36 inches but those under 40 inches can only ride the bottom two slides. Water park enthusiasts will need reservations to ride one of these slides or just splash around. And those who can't contain all the fun of adding water can stay the night at the Northeast's only Lego-themed hotel. The 250-room property has four themes: Lego Pirates, Kingdom, Lego Friends and Lego Ninjago.

For the first time, Legoland New York is a certified autism center this season with trained staff to better serve guests with autism and sensory guides to report any bright light, loud sound or overstimulation feature. There are also areas where families can decompress with dim lighting, weighted blankets and tactile toys.
