A "very, very chic" toilet which once belonged to Beatles legend John Lennon has been exposed.

Fans were delighted to see the porcelain convenience unveiled as a new exhibit at the Liverpool Beatles Museum.

The reveal was met with laughter, smiles and a comment of "it's John's jeans".

The toilet once stood proudly at the home of Lennon and Yoko Ono in Berkshire and was loaned to the museum by a man who paid £1,000 for it at auction.

One ​​viewer joked that the toilets could have helped the couple "pass a Penny Lane" while another urged game makers to words to simply "Let it Pee".

Museum owner Roag Best said: "The man contacted us, told us that he was just sitting in his house collecting dust and asked if we'd like to display him in the museum?

"We thought, 'Well, that's a little weird, it's not what we would normally display but who's to say what you should and shouldn't display, so come on, let's give it a try'."
