Christian Brueckner has accused German prosecutors of conspiring to frame him for a series of crimes.

The Madeleine McCann suspect was indicted last month on rape and sexual assault charges in Portugal. But the 45-year-old insists he did nothing wrong.

In a rambling prison letter, he wrote: "There is no evidence that I committed any of these crimes. No DNA, nothing.

"The time some of these crimes are supposed to have taken place, I was in prison. The prosecution is trying to frame me and hope that I will capitulate under mental pressure.

"They hope I'll just say 'yes' to anything that gives me a chance to escape this mental torture.

“There is certainly no evidence. Of course not, because I did not commit any of these crimes.”

German pedophile Brueckner is serving a seven-year sentence in his home country for raping a pensioner in Praia da Luz, the Algarve resort from which Madeleine disappeared in 2007 when she was three years old.< /p>

Prosecutors now claim he raped a teenage girl there and two women at other Portuguese vacation spots.

And he would have exposed himself to young girls. He faces life behind bars if convicted of the offenses that allegedly took place between December 2000 and June 2017.

Brueckner wrote, "Nobody knows who these people are and what happened to them. No name, no nationality, nothing. Maybe the victims went to the moon for a while."< /p>

German prosecutor Hans Christian Wolters said he had evidence that Madeleine was dead and was "100% sure" that Brueckner was responsible. He explained how investigators are now working "only" on this investigation.

The parents of Madeleine, Kate and Gerry, of Rothley, Leics, refuse to give up hope that their daughter is alive.
