Man City are set to announce the signing of a new left-back after losing Cucurella

Anderlecht's Sergio Gomez will join Premier League champions Man City for a fee 'nearly €15m', according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Citizens were linked with Marc Cucurella earlier this summer but were unwilling to meet Brighton's assessment of the Spaniard.

Premier League consent training should be part of a wider conversation

Cucurella ended up joining Chelsea for an estimated £62million.

Pep Guardiola didn't have a natural left-back at his disposal last season and would use Nathan Ake, Joao Cancelo or Oleksandr Zinchenko in that position.

The Spanish coach also didn't use an absolute No.9 last season and solved that problem early on by bringing in Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund.

Gabriel Jesus was allowed to leave the club after the arrival of Haaland and Julian Alvarez.

It's been a busy summer on that front, with Jesus and Zinchenko joining Arsenal and Raheem Sterling moving to Chelsea.

Ake was also linked with Chelsea and Bernardo Silva would be Barcelona's latest main target in a bizarre transfer window for them.

Having brought in Haaland, Alvarez, Kalvin Phillips and substitute keeper Stefan Ortega, Guardiola is still on the hunt for a new left-back.

This will likely be the last move for Man City, although a report on Wednesday claimed selling Silva could help the Citizens fund the signing of Dortmund and England midfielder Jude Bellingham .

It was announced earlier this month that City would be chasing Anderlecht defender Sergio Gomez after missing out on Cucurella.

The 21-year-old joined the Belgium side from Dortmund for around £2m last year.

He was very impressive in his first season for the club, averaging one goal contribution in every two league games from left-back.

And after his stellar campaign, it looks like Man City have decided to bring him in.

It's according to Fabrizio Romano, who said "let's go" on the subject, which means it's as if it's done.

Romano claims the fee is "over €10m" and "closer to €15m" after the two clubs reached a "verbal agreement".

It is unclear whether or not Gomez will stay at the club and compete for a place in Guardiola's starting XI, or go on loan.

The Italian journalist says he has a 'good chance' of staying in England, but if not he will join the La Liga side and City's sister club Girona.
