Man dies after crashing limo into Berlin's iconic Brandenburg Gate

A man has died in a limousine crash at Berlin's iconic Brandenburg Gate, German police have said.

Images from the scene show the mangled wreckage of the vehicle between two pillars at the capital's popular tourist spot.

There was no immediate information about the identity of the driver.

Police said initial information indicated no other people were injured in the crash, which happened shortly before midnight.

Parts of the Brandenburg Gate were covered in soot, but there appeared to be no major damage to the structure.
