Man Utd make (really) shocking £6.8m bid for ex-Premier League striker

Man Utd are looking to bring former Premier League striker Marko Arnautovic to Old Trafford and have made a bid for the forward, according to reports.

Marcus Rashford started the Red Devils game against Brighton today with Cristiano Ronaldo missing most of pre-season and Anthony Martial getting injured again.

Ronaldo has already asked to leave the club this summer after Man Utd missed out on a Champions League place by finishing sixth last season.

The Portuguese international doesn't necessarily fit Erik ten Hag's way of playing and the Dutchman has now decided to sign Bologna striker Arnautovic.

Arnautovic played in the Premier League for Stoke City and West Ham for six years before leaving these shores to settle in China with the port of Shanghai.

And now The Athletic are reporting he could leave Bologna - which he joined in 2021 - after Man Utd made an '€8m offer (6.8 million)" for the 33-year-old.

Arnautovic has 'emerged as a surprise target' as Man Utd want him to 'become a player in the club team' with Ten Hag described as 'an influential voice on this movement and no player will join without his approval".< /p>

"They don't have enough options at the moment. That might change over the next few weeks, but from a footballing point of view you have to hang on to Ronaldo. You can't let him go when you don't have the backup behind him."

Keane added: "It's a pretty straightforward call from the manager. As brilliant as Ronaldo is, he's only 45 minutes into pre-season. I don't care how you take care of him. you - you need more than that.

"I think he looks at the players he has - Brighton at home - and probably thinks he is imagining his chances without Ronaldo."
