Man Utd 'open' to signing new full-back amid interest in £33.5million star - club have put six up for sale

Man Utd are reportedly looking to sign a new right-back, but they need to get rid of a few players first.

Most of United's focus this summer has been on revenue, as they signed Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez on permanent deals.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka started last season as United's first-choice right-back but lost his place to Diogo Dalot after a series of poor performances.

Ferguson return: think tank only offers more numbers for shameless Man Utd owners to ignore

Wan-Bissaka is among the players not in Erik ten Hag's plans, unable to meet his £50m price tag.

Former Tottenham Hotspur full-back Alan Hutton said earlier this week that Wan-Bissaka "doesn't fit" at Ten Hag's United:

"[Wan-Bissaka] obviously had a tough time, I think defensively he's a really good player. He's hard to get past and he showed it," Hutton told Football Insider .

"But going forward, I think that's his weakness.

"When you play for a team like Manchester United under Ten Hag, that's the outlet. Left-back, right-back and full-backs give you the width and the crosses in the box and I don't don't think it fits this bill.

"They will be looking at different options to fit into the mold of the new manager. But Wan-Bissaka, they paid £50m for him, is anyone going to pay that? I can't see him. It will be interesting to see which team takes the bait for him.“

As for a new right-back, Man Utd are set to challenge Chelsea for Denzel Dumfries from Inter Milan.

The Dutchman has won a lot of admirers in recent years and is valued at £33.5m (€40m) by Inter.

The move could be considered as Man Utd are 'open to signing' a new right-back this summer, according to Manchester Evening News.

The report notes that they are even more tempted to do so given that Ethan Laird is set to sign for Watford on loan.

They add that United are 'always keen to change' Wan-Bissaka, which comes as no surprise.

It won't be easy as they currently have "more inquiries" for Dalot on Wan-Bissaka.

Their defense looks 'bloated' at the moment, so a total of six defenders have been made 'available for transfer'.

In addition to Wan-Bissaka, Eric Bailly, Phil Jones, Axel Tuanzebe, Brandon Williams and Alex Telles are also free to leave.
