Barcelona president Joan Laporta has confirmed that De Jong won't be on the market in January.

The Netherlands international was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer but was reluctant to leave the Catalan giants, staying in Spain instead.

"About De Jong, I admit there were clubs interested in buying him last summer, but he wasn't for sale and he won't be," Laporta said on Thursday . "De Jong is a very attractive footballer, we know that, but I insist that he is not for sale.

"No matter what may be discussed in internal meetings, there is a club opinion first and foremost. And from the club's point of view, De Jong is not for sale."
