A young grocer who murdered a five-year-old girl and buried her in her bathroom because her mother only owed her £50 has been sentenced to death by hanging.

This horrific killing took place in the city of Minya, Egypt, on July 16 last year.

A court yesterday ruled that the convicted killer, named only Manar, 20, should now be executed for the murder of little Duha Ashraf.

The five-year-old girl was killed in revenge against her mother, named Mona Omar Mohamed, 45, who owed the grocer EGP1,500 (£50), the court heard.

Manar also believed that Mona undermined her reputation with the locals.

So he lured Duha to his house with the promise of chocolate before killing her and burying her lifeless body in a downstairs bathroom of his house.
