A man's dream girl disappears after two years of not meeting - but he finds her

A man whose wife he thought was 'the only one' disappeared after two and a half years of dating says he can't get over what happened.

Rob Mac from Ireland appeared on MTV Catfish UK after being ghosted by his girlfriend Sarah.

The couple first met on Tinder before embarking on a long-term relationship.

However, despite being a couple they never met in person - partly due to Covid restrictions at the start of the romance - and Sarah suddenly disappeared from Rob's life.

Speaking to UK Catfish presenter Oobah Butler, Rob said: "At the time I was recovering from a breakup with my ex-girlfriend of seven years and Sarah was also out of a relationship long term, so we really bonded.

"She was always there when I needed her. We can talk on a deeper level.

"We even discussed moving to Dublin so we could be closer to each other."

He added, "This might be the one for me.

"It's not fair. I gave him everything."

However, unfortunately for Rob, he didn't get the happy outcome he was hoping for when the show tracked down Sarah and arranged for the pair to meet in a shocking conclusion.

While attending a date in a park, Rob soon realized that the reason Sarah had been quiet was that she had gone off with a new man.

Rob said, "Don't you think it's invasive to come into my life, connect me with you [...] and shut me out?

"I thought you might be dead."

Sarah replied, "It has a lot to do with me, I admit. But geographically, you know we don't live in exactly the same place."

Rob continued, "It's really bittersweet - that you're here, you're fine [...] but it gets to me. Two and a half years is a long time."

Having been unlucky in love, Rob says he is now taking a break from dating.

“To be honest, after all this catfish experience, I kind of took a break,” he said

“With Covid, this connection that I had with someone lasted two and a half years, roughly from the start of Covid.

"For a long time we couldn't meet anyway. When the time restrictions were lifted, things got a little funny."
