Marcus Mumford reveals he was sexually abused when he was six

Marcus Mumford, frontman of Mumford & Sons, has revealed he was sexually abused when he was six years old.< /p >

"Not in family and not in church, which some people might assume," he told GQ magazine.

The 35-year-old singer said he addressed the issue in the lyrics of his recent solo single, Hannibal.

"Like many people - and I'm learning more and more about it as we go there and as I play it to people - I was sexually abused as a child,” he said.

"But I hadn't told anyone about it in 30 years."

'Respiratory problems'

Mumford, including the parents were international leaders of the evangelical Christian denomination of the Churches of the Vineyard, said he sought therapy after hitting 'rock bottom' at the end of his band's 2018 tour to support their latest al bum, Delta.

"I had asked the people closest to me to hold up a mirror and say, like, 'Man, something's wrong t here and it is your responsibility to go find out,” he said.
