Max Verstappen gives direct reason not to copy Lewis Hamilton on social media

Max Verstappen has explained why he isn't very active on social media, in stark contrast to his F1 rival Lewis Hamilton. The Red Bull star only posts a handful of times a month and it's likely those posts are written by a management agency.

Hamilton takes a different approach to its social media and is clearly in charge. The seven-time world champion posts daily updates to his followers and lets everyone know exactly what his lavish lifestyle looks like.

Verstappen was asked if he would spend more time posting on social media in the future - but he has absolutely no intention of doing so.

"I just don't feel the need to show my private life to the outside world. Kelly also does it much less than before," Verstappen told the Dutch outlet. "When I'm done with Formula 1 I won't see myself posting much after that. I just don't like it. Some people don't do anything else all day, I'm busy with others things.

"For example, I spend a lot of time on my phone, but it's more to fix things around my sim team. It also takes a lot of time, but because it's my passion, I really enjoy working on this."

Verstappen has won his second world title this year and needs a bit more to match Hamilton and Michael Schumacher's record. But the 25-year-old doesn't know how many years he has left in the tank.

Verstappen explained, "I've often indicated that it was too much and that was the main reason why I wouldn't continue doing it until I was 40. Traveling a lot and stuff, that's not is just not healthy.

"I still like him a lot now, but you have to give up a lot for that. It seems crazy because driving Formula 1 is of course a dream for many people, but it really is. You are very away from home and the people you love. There comes a time when you're done with it."

He added: "When I'm done, I'll quit. It's as simple as that. But for the same price, I'm still enjoying it and will continue for another year or two. As a Formula 1 driver, so, hey. I'll definitely keep racing, but then I'll do other things."
