Everyone knows that you can't believe everything you hear or read on April Fool's Day because there's always a chance it could be a sellout. But McDonald's has managed to ignite furor with its 2023 prank, with some saying the fast food chain has gone too far.

The Aussie announced a new menu item - the McFry - yesterday causing huge excitement among fans.

The compelling photo showed a beef patty burger with stuffed fries inside, so you don't have to make it yourself.

"The ultimate Mac-hack is now made to order, as we take the classic quarter pound and pile it with Australia's favorite fries," reads the brand's Instagram page.

"Fries inside, we have beef, cheese, onions, pickles, tomato sauce. Looks mega."

But although they thought the new addition was a bit simple, fans loved the idea and many were extremely disappointed to learn that they couldn't order one at their local branch.

Some have gone so far as to beg McDonald's to make it a real thing to make up for the upheaval.
