Meg Lanning: Australia captain named in squad for ODI series against Pakistan

Lanning, 30, will captain the One-Day International Series against Pakistan from January 16-21.

After winning the Commonwealth Games, Lanning announced that she was taking time to focus on herself after "a busy few years".

Alyssa Healy, who was captain in Lanning's absence, will miss the series with a calf injury .

Wicketkeeper Healy was injured in Australia's recent series against India, which she won 4-1.

Lanning, who led Australia to World Cup glory in April, is seen as one of the best hitters in the world and his return further strengthens a team that has only lost one game in 2022.

Former Irish player Kim Garth keeps her place in the squad after making her Australia debut in the India Series.

The first two ODIs take place at Allan Border Field in Brisbane and the third at the North Sydney Oval, and will be followed by three T20s.
