The premium enterprise VR headset from Meta, formerly Project Cambria, is designed for users and business creators. It debuts on October 25 as Meta Quest Pro for $1,500.
It will initially be able to run 400 apps for the Meta Quest 2 headset, which costs $400+ and is aimed at consumers and gamers. But the new device will deliver very premium experiences that you would expect with its high price tag.
I was able to try out the device at Meta headquarters for about an hour and tried six different apps. These apps use wireless virtual reality, color passthrough mixed reality technology, super-sharp LCD screens, and the ability to track your eyes, hands, and facial expressions.
Meta said that originally the vast majority of time spent in VR was alone. Today is a social experiment.

register hereAnand Dass, director of metaverse content apps at Meta, told a press briefing that the apps take advantage of new technology related to color passthrough sensors that can detect the world in greater detail. It can map a room and determine where a table is with precision through "scene understanding".
Once a headset knows where something is in the real world in front of you, it can then place virtual objects in the room with precision, like putting a map of Wooorld below on a real table. If you share a space with friends, you can also have a sense of social presence, knowing your friends' gestures and facial expressions as they make movements in real life. The apps were fun. I could throw darts, play Jenga with my fingers in VR, and more.
When it comes to gaming, Microsoft is bringing Xbox Cloud Gaming to the Quest platform. Users will be able to connect Xbox controllers to their Quest (and presumably Quest Pro) headsets and play Game Pass titles in VR like on a big TV screen, where you'll see 2D games on a huge VR screen.
WorldThe first app I tried was Wooorld, an app that lets you explore anywhere on the planet. You can join your friends in VR and visit hundreds of cities with a VR vantage point that looks like a 3D version of Google Street View.
The app has architectural landmarks, natural wonders...
