MLS appoints IMG Arena to create data-driven content to sell to booming betting business

July 8 - With the deregulation of the online betting industry across the United States, Major League Soccer (MLS) has designated IMG's bookmaker sales - IMG Arena - as its official data distribution as part of a deal that could net the American league $270 million, according to reports.

IMG Arena will provide official data, content graphics, next-gen fan analytics and marketing tools to MLS betting and media partners. There will be the launch of three new live MLS data streams, to support a range of brand new digital, media and betting products.

Graphics and information will also be used on MLSsoccer.com, the MLS app and all MLS club sites.

Chris Schlosser, Major League Soccer SVP Emerging Ventures, said: “The expanded collaboration between MLS and IMG ARENA will use the latest digital marketing technologies to drive fan growth for MLS and MLS Next Pro. ahead of the 2026 World Cup in North America. . As major European leagues face national regulation of their online betting partnerships, American clubs and leagues have gone the opposite way in terms of opening up bookmakers' revenue streams, despite having had a lot of delay in playing.
