A schoolboy was shocked after finding a worm the length of a five-year-old child while playing in his garden.

The breathtaking moment the meter-long earthworm was found was photographed by Chris, father of nine-year-old Barnaby Domigan.

Talking about the shocking moment her son found the worm-zilla in a stream outside the family home in Christchurch, New Zealand, mum Jo, 40, said: "He was amazed and absolutely shocked that a worm could be so big. , and he was very excited."

She went on to say, "Barnaby used to play in our yard with his siblings - Frankie, Pearl, Abraham and Remi.

"He was exploring the water to see if there was anything interesting inside and when he found the giant worm, he used a stick to pull it out.
