Luxury-loving politicians claimed £63,000 of first-class rail tickets on their spending in two months.

Taxpayers footed the bill for high-flying trips taken by 115 MPs, according to figures from watchdog IPSA.

Conservative Anne Marie Morris claimed the most with £2,842 for 11 first class journeys between her constituency of Newton Abbot, South Devon, and London.

Each ticket cost over £285 on average, while standard fares for the journey can range from £55 to £75 when purchased in advance.

SNP MP Martyn Day claimed the most expensive single ticket: £385.17 for a journey to the capital from Falkirk.

Sharon Hodgson of Labor made the most first class journeys with 21 journeys for a total of £2,281, between London and Newcastle.

And Tory Philip Davies claimed 18 trips from Shipley, West Yorks, at a cost of £1,417. It charged taxpayers up to £144.17 for a single first class journey when standard seats can cost £30.

Typical first-class perks include more comfortable seats, free cups and cookies, and even hot meals. Figures cover claims filed last October and November, but trips may have been taken in a different period.

IPSA gives details of all MPs' claims under transparency rules put in place after the 2009 spending scandal.
