Mudryk said to join Chelsea rather than Arsenal because Todd Boehly can sell a 'better project'

Stan Collymore has explained why Mykhaylo Mudryk should sign for Chelsea rather than Arsenal.

The London duo fought hard to sign the Ukraine international, who have impressed with their performances in the Champions League this season.

Arsenal and Chelsea have held talks with Mudryk's representatives, but Shakhtar have so far refused to budge on their £85m valuation.

Mudryk's preference is to join the Gunners, but despite Mikel Arteta's side being the runaway Premier League leaders, Collymore believes Chelsea owner Todd Boehly can sell a 'better project' and the ability to "constantly compete for silverware".

Collymore told CaughtOffside: "I know some fans will say that given the current situation at both clubs, if he were to choose the Blues over the Gunners, it would only be for the money.

"And that may be true, but for me Chelsea remains the most attractive project. If [Todd] Boehly can sell Chelsea's future to Mudryk, that's the most attractive option.

"If I had the choice I would choose Chelsea over Arsenal and it's not me dismissing the good work that Mikel Arteta and Arsenal are doing, but I just think that over a period of three or four years , the Blues are the best project and the club most likely to compete regularly for silverware.

"So, all that considered, I wouldn't be surprised if Mudryk ended up at Stamford Bridge."

TEAMtalk reported on Sunday that Arsenal were "unhappy" with Shakhtar as they believe the Ukrainian club used Chelsea to try and raise the price, although Mudryk made it clear that he wanted to move to Shakhtar. Gunners.

Football.London says there is an "imminent announcement" from Shakhtar with a "new development" expected by Arsenal in the "coming hours".

The report adds: "A clear indication on Mudryk's future could arrive shortly as Shakthar's training camp in Turkey begins on Monday, January 9. Of course, it's worth pointing out that the winger is expected to be part of the team, as revealed by the club's assistant sporting director, Carlo Nicolini.'
