Mutant pig with elephant trunk born in the Philippines

A mutant piglet was oddly welcomed as a bringer of good fortune after being born with an elephant-shaped trunk on its forehead.

The strange creature was born as the only one to a litter of 12 on Friday in Gahit, on the island of Negros in the Philippines.

For those who could not believe that such an animal was born, a video footage has been published.

It shows the pig-elephant hybrid with a long snout-like appendage growing out of its forehead, while a second snout is visible in the normal position.

While pictures of the baby show he has the normal characteristics of a pig - including feet, a muzzle and a bright pink color, there are other questionable qualities.

The newborn himself was not so lucky as he died shortly after birth (
