My £440 Commonwealth Games tickets could prove worthless

I have Commonwealth Games tickets which cost £440 but due to family commitments I cannot use them. The problem is that the official resale site is closed.

Tickets, for rugby sevens and cycling at Lee Valley VeloPark, are non-transferable and, although I appreciate the need to avoid ticket sales, the resale site closed weeks ago and I'm afraid I won't be able to get my money back.

I have family who would gladly take the tickets but don't want to risk being turned away from the stadium because he's not the named person.

I guess that there are many others in a similar position. It seems organizers are prioritizing money over bums in seats.JH, Kenilworth

Birmingham 2022 tickets have proven popular, but you're not the only one unable to use yours, especially due to the national railway strike scheduled for Saturday 30th July. This makes the closure of the official resale site several weeks ago seem premature.

The website was open for five weeks between May 31 and July 4, and Birmingham 2022 says anyone who has been unsuccessful in reselling tickets, or only planning to sell their tickets after the platform has closed, can transfer them to a friend or family member through their ticketing account.

You say communication with ticket holders was poor and you didn't realize you could do it until we told you.

You were now able to get half your money back from a family member willing to pay face value for some of the tickets. Like other buyers, you have listed the others on the Twickets resale site.We accept letters but cannot respond individually.
