Nathalie Emmanuel joins Rosario Dawson and Tony Revolori in the cast of "Ghosts of Ruin"

Nathalie Emmanuel is the latest star to join the cast of the immersive animated series "Ghosts of Ruin".

The announcement that the 'Game of Thrones' and 'Fast and Furious' franchise co-star would be bringing his voice talents to the new series was made during the 'Ghosts of Ruin' Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday.

"Literally, I'm emailing agents right now in this panel," executive producer Michael Ramey joked, noting how the news had developed in "real time." (In an interview after the panel, Ramey and fellow EP Katie Stippec told Variety they were backstage hitting "refresh, refresh, refresh.")

In May, Variety exclusively announced that Rosario Dawson and Tony Revolori had joined the cast of the animated series, which follows a group of gamers as they face off in the first ever neural reality battle royale game, codenamed "Ruin". However, a malicious virus appears and turns their utopia into hell.

Emmanuel will voice Dr. Angela Tucci, who Stippec says is "a very monumental and essential character in the flow of the show".

"I wanted her on the show from the very beginning, because I'm a big fan of her," added showrunner Michael Ryan. "She's amazing. And I think the role she's playing is so perfect. I can't wait to record it."

Ryan also offered a bit more detail on Emmanuel's voice. "She pretty much runs neural reality," he teased. "Everything I've seen in Nathalie, her acting is so strong and her sense of presence and strength really shines through and I really think it's going to be perfect.

K-Pop star AleXa, Karen Strassman and John Bentley (all of whom were in Hall H) as well as Josh Keaton, Justin Long, Cherise Boothe, Harron Atkins, Michael Longfellow and JB Blanc also star on the show.

The Hall H panel meant creator and executive producer P. J. Accetterro's first trip to San Diego Comic-Con was particularly memorable, especially the experience of announcing Emmanuel's addition live from the stage.

"Nathalie is amazing. I can't believe how good our cast is. It's stacked," Accetterro said.

Moderated by Coy Jandreau, the conversation also featured Giovoni Rios, Hendric Beunk and Russell Emanuel of Hans Zimmer, Bleeding Fingers Music, and reflected the interactive, community-driven nature of the project, with attendees having the opportunity to chime in on the dialogue with which Dawson's Prism, described as a player distant professional, one goal: to be the undisputed champion of the world – will deliver in an upcoming episode. Attendees watched three versions of her character's tongue-in-cheek dialogue and voted overwhelmingly for Option C, which caused the biggest burn on her ex-lover.

"Ghosts of Ruin" will debut this fall via the website of Gala Film, the film and television division of Web3 Gala. Although no streaming service is yet associated with the project, Battle Island plans to buy the project on other platforms for a wider release.
