If there's one word that defines the way forward for NetSuite's business, it's "automation." The company, which is hosting its annual SuiteWorld conference in Las Vegas this week, is announcing a number of enhancements and new products that it says will save frontline workers and the managers who deploy them a lot of time.

"NetSuite has spent more than 20 years trying to help fast-growing businesses run more efficiently, and this year is no different," said Evan Goldberg, NetSuite founder and executive vice president of 'Oracle, which owns NetSuite.

"It's a weird, wacky world right now, with supply chain issues, labor shortages, and inflation. The last thing you want is is to get bogged down in manual processes. They have bigger fish to fry."

NetSuite workflow solutions are quietly efficient

NetSuite has built a business around helping businesses manage their internal workflow. The company offers custom versions of its stack that focus on some of the specific challenges that many industries face. Their tools can be found to manage warehouses, campus stores, restaurants, and at least two dozen other specific industries. Everyone finds a system to automate many tasks specific to their environment.

These types of web-based productivity solutions have been getting more attention lately, as they can be extremely useful when they offer custom automation. Adobe's recent purchase of Figma for around $20 billion in cash and stock shows that even the niche of helping web users edit images can be valuable.

Although many of the back-office processes supported by NetSuite are rarely noticed, they illustrate how the right combination of software and workflow management can be surprisingly valuable.

CPQ: Automated sales path to avoid surprises

One of this week's announcements targets a niche that many might not notice. The product, NetSuite CPQ, helps sales teams create "Configure, Price, and Quote (CPQ)" work. The system will create a guided sales journey that will help sales teams work with customers and answer any questions before a contract is finalized. He juggles between SKUs and configurations before producing a binding proposal that avoids surprises for both customers and the teams who must deliver on the sales team's promises.

"Typically, many customers handle this manually," Goldberg said. “The salesperson draws up an estimate and the customer validates it. Then he goes to the factory and they say, "Oh no, we can't build that."

NetSuite's CPQ will apply a number of rules to ensure that all configurations are possible. At the same time, it will automate much of the quote production to simplify the work of the sales team so they can spend more time with customers.

“With NetSuite CPQ, we see how our business community can better serve customers while providing a great experience for team members,” explained Rick Bauerly, founder and CEO of Granite Partners, on. .
