Neville names 'only' way Arsenal will beat Man City for title as Souness claims Pep 'embarrassed' Gunners

Gary Neville believes the only chance Arsenal have of beating Man City for the Premier League title is if Kevin de Bruyne, Erling Haaland and Rodri get injured.

The Citizens dealt a blow to the Gunners' title chances by beating them 4-1 at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday.

Arsenal led the Premier League for much of the season but, ahead of Man City's game against Fulham on Sunday, Pep Guardiola's men are now two points behind with two games less.

And speaking to Sky Sports ahead of the game, Neville believes Man City will go on and win the FA Cup, Premier League and Champions League treble this season.

Neville said on Sky Sports: "I agree with Jamie [Redknapp], it would be disappointing for them now I think. Because when we [Manchester United] won the treble in 1999, there was no evidence to suggest we were better than the Arsenal team - because they had won the league and the double the year before.

"And when you look at the Champions League final, Bayern Munich were an exceptional team who had a better record in Europe than us. So we always doubted until the end, if we could go all the way to the end. end and do it, whereas with City now they are so superior to the teams that they still have to play.

"Obviously they meet history at Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-finals - but then you have to dismiss that stuff, it's really emotional.

"That doesn't exist sometimes in football where a team in a stadium can galvanize something. That stadium can do that [pointing to Anfield], we've seen that before.

"But I think City are now going to really like each other, they're in such good shape, all their players are fit. I don't know what happened to [Kevin] De Bruyne today and why he isn't in the squad, maybe you'll find out in a few minutes, but only injuries to maybe [Erling] Haaland, De Bruyne and Rodri, I think it's the other one, I think , would leave a huge dent in their triple hopes.

"And I'm crossing my fingers that something happens."

Another pundit, Graeme Souness, was impressed with Man City in their win over Arsenal and felt Guardiola's men were 'embarrassed' by Mikel Arteta's side.

Souness added: "I think Man City showed in the middle of the week that they were real champions. They arrived and I can't tell you from my time in football a game between first and second. second and such a huge gap.

"They really embarrassed Arsenal. If they had won 7-0 the other night it wouldn't have been an outrageous result for City, so they would seem to be so far ahead of anyone else right now."
