SNCF, the French public railway company, has placed an order for 2 €.7bn (£2.3bn/$2.7bn) for 115 TGV Ms - which have a longer, more aerodynamic nose - with the first completed trainset recently presented at the builder's workshop Alstom in La Rochelle.

Alstom said the 11,000 hp TGV M, aka Avelia Horizon, has "unprecedented flexibility" - cars can be quickly reconfigured with more or fewer seats, so that a first class car can become a second class car and vice versa. Additionally, bike racks and luggage spaces can be added or removed.
