Bristol's new festival creates a 'safe space' for Asians
A new arts and culture festival hopes to create "a safe space r" for the Orient a and the South East Asian Community (ESEA).
The Moon Fest, in Bristol, will showcase a range of ESEA creative talent from throughout the city.
The one-day event will host a lineup of musicians, visual artists and dancers, as well as food and drink. craftsmanship.
"I hope this brings more Asian representation to the events scene in Bristol," said founder Monica Wat.
Ms Wat was inspired to launch the festival when she arrived in Bristol in September 2021.
"I used to celebrate the feast of the mid-autumn with my uncle and grandmother in Hong Kong," she said.
"They passed away about a year ago and moved to Bristol alone.
"I had no friends to party with When I arrived here, it was quite lonely and I remember buying myself a mooncake at a super Asian market to feel a little more festive."
