Jvmi and Kelvin Fichter, developers of Optimism, launched a new application called Magic Mirror on November 9 that allows NFT holders to copy or "mirror" their Optimism NFTs to the Ethereum mainnet. NFT holders can now use their Optimism NFTs in a variety of verified applications, such as in Twitter's profile badge system - where previously only native Ethereum Layer 1 NFTs could be used.

Twitter launched its NFT badge feature in January, allowing NFT holders to verify ownership of their art. Verified NFTs can be used as a profile picture on Twitter, where they are then designated with a special hexagonal shape. Prior to the release of Magic Mirror, NFT holders from other networks, such as Optimism, Polygon, or Avalanche, did not have the option to do so.

The company said this new tool is an attempt to fix this problem, but only for NFT Optimism holders. Users can change the NFT inside the mirror at any time, rather than creating a new one each time. However, only one Optimism NFT can be placed inside the mirror at a time.
