14-year-old girl killed in Jos community

A 14-year-old girl, Maryam Salisu, was found killed in Babale community, on the outskirts of Jos North Local Government Area, Plateau State, for alleged ritual purposes.< /p>

The body of the deceased according to the inhabitants of the community was found in a trench. Relatives of the deceased told Premium Times that Maryam's corpse was found in a trench with her throat, tongue, breasts and eyes cut out.

Relatives said the incident happened when the victims alongside 12 other girls got on a nearby bus to fetch firewood. The deceased was allegedly assaulted by a man who hit her with a stick.

His friends fled the scene for safety after the man began dragging the victim into the bush.

The mother, Fatima Danliti, who could not hold back her tears said that she left everything to Allah

"We left everything to Allah. To each his own way of leaving. I believe this is how Allah intended it to happen. I report the culprit to the Almighty. and the creator," she said.

"While the girls were busy fetching firewood, a man suddenly appeared and hit her with some bamboo, then fell down while the rest of his friends ran home to report what was happening in the bush," said Sani Babale, a local resident and former councilor in the area.

“The incident happened around 2 p.m. Her friends who went to the bush told us that when the man hit her with the bamboo, they begged him to leave her but refused. and dragged her into the bush.

"When community residents, both men and women, went to the scene of the incident, we could not find the man and Maryam. We all went home and came back the next day morning and looking for where she was, we found her body in a hole with both her breasts, throat and tongue removed.

“It is painful. We have never experienced this kind of calamity. We lack security in our area. We call on the Plateau State Police Command to deploy more police to the community” , he added.

State Police Command spokesman Alabo Alfred did not respond to requests for comment on the incident.

He did not respond to an SMS sent to his phone number.
