20-year-old housewife kills co-wife with pestle in Bauchi
A housewife has been arrested for allegedly killing his co-wife with a pestle in Bauchi, police say.
The suspect allegedly used a pestle to hit her husband's first wife on the head with a pestle, resulting in her death.
The incident, according to the police, happened in Gar village, Pali ward, Alkaleri local government area, Bauchi state.
Police Public Relations Officer, Bauchi State Command, Ahmed Walil, who stated this in a press release, said the suspect's husband reported the incident to police headquarters. Maina-Maji Divisional Police on November 22, 2022.
Wakil, a superintendent of police, said: “On 22 November 2022 at around 6:00 p.m., an Ibrahim Sambo, a man (40 years old) from the Pali quarter of Gar village, Alkaleri LGA, came to the headquarters of Maina-maji Divisional Police and reported that around midnight on the same day, his second wife Maryam Ibrahim, (20) of the same address, armed with a pestle, entered the bedroom of his first wife, Hafsat Ibrahim (32 years old), from the same address and hit her with the pestle on the head.
"As a result, the victim was seriously injured and was evacuated to a primary health care center in the village of Gar where he was pronounced dead by the doctor.
"After receiving the report, a team of detectives attached to the command swung into action and arrested the suspect.
“During the interrogation, the suspect voluntarily confessed to the crime. She revealed that on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at around 11:00 a.m., the deceased (Hafsat Ibrahim) sent her son, Abdulaziz Ibrahim (5 years old) with a piece of fried meat known as (Tsire) to give her (Maryam).And after eating the meat, she began to feel abnormal and then she vomited the meat.
"Afterwards, she (the suspect) called a certain Faiza Hamisu, female, of the same address, the wife of her husband's younger brother, and told him exactly what had happened.< /p>
“She added that said Faiza told her it was probably an ulcer; her (Faiza), then gave him medicine for ulcers.
"Subsequently, the suspect defiantly went into her kitchen, took a pestle and entered the first wife's bedroom while she was sleeping and punched her in the head, resulting in her death ."
