2023: Atiku “healthiest presidential candidate” – former governor of Niger

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate is the most apt among those eyeing Nigeria's presidency in 2023, said Babangida Aliyu, former Governor of Niger State.

Mr. Aliyu, who served as governor between 2007 and 2015 on the PDP platform, spoke in Abeokuta on Monday during the declaration of support for Atiku by volunteer groups from all southwestern states.

At the rally, Niger's former governor said a medically fit presidential candidate doesn't need any proof by sharing a video clip on social media.

"Atiku is the healthiest presidential candidate in this country, it's not about fitness equipment, and everyone knows the fittest," he said.

Mr Aliyu's comments came a day after All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate Bola Tinubu shared a photo of himself on a fitness machine and dismissed claims he had died or had withdrawn from the race.

“I looked through the newspapers today and I 've seen a photo of someone trying to prove they're healthy. If there's health, we don't need to tell people we're healthy, but we're aware that Atiku is the healthiest presidential candidate in this country,” Aliyu said.

"We need security and only an Atiku presidency can reclaim our land from Boko Haram, can reclaim our land from bandits, IPOB and all the other bad people who make our lives difficult.

“Only an Atiku presidency can restructure Nigeria. There must be a state police to provide security in local areas, only an Atiku Abubakar presidency can do that. »

Regarding the economy and education, Aliyu noted that there was "extreme poverty" in the country but the DPP candidate would provide a solution.
