2023: I don't have a special presidential candidate - Obasanjo

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo said on Sunday that he had no special candidate for the 2023 presidential election.

Mr. Obasanjo spoke to reporters shortly after visiting a former head of state, Abdulsalami Abubakar, a retired general, in Minna.

Mr. Obasanjo said, "I don't have a special candidate, as far as the 2023 presidential election is concerned.

"I came to see my brother who was a little indisposed and when he was abroad I had wanted to visit him, and the day I arrived in London to visit him was the day he is gone.

"So, I said, well, since I couldn't see him in London, I would come and see him in Nigeria. And so, that's what I came to do.

"He's special in a way and he was indisposed, so I had to come and see him.

“If there is still someone who is special and indisposed that I have to see, I will see them. I am still strong enough,” he said.

Nigeria News Agency reports that Mr. Obasanjo also visited former President Ibrahim Babangida, where they held a closed-door meeting.
