2023: Niger DPP allegedly resolves lingering crisis

The crisis within the Niger State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, may have been resolved, following resolutions reached at a series of meetings held recently in Abuja, Capital Territory federal, FCT, to ensure the success of the 2023 gubernatorial election.

The meetings were reportedly held at the residence of the party governor's flag bearer, Alh Isah Liman Kantig,i between party elders and executives

It was found that former Governor Aliyu's faction led by Hon. Sani Kutigi was present.

DAILY POST has learned that some of the resolutions made were that the Hon. Sani Kutigi is not expected to appeal the recent judgment of an Abuja High Court in favor of Hon. Isah Liman Kantigi in a suit challenging his emergence as the winner of the gubernatorial primary.

During the meetings, they all resolved to ensure the success of the party in the years to come and that the campaign council be expanded to accommodate Sani Kutigi supporters in the state.

Furthermore, the members decided that all resolutions should be strictly adhered to and implemented by the party's gubernatorial candidate, Alh. Kantigi to build unity and devoid of any division for a successful exit to the gubernatorial election.

However, when contacted, the Nigerian state of PDP, Barr. Tanko Beji declined to comment on the resolutions made during the series of meetings held or whether there has been a change in party leadership in the state at the time of this report.

The party, it will be recalled, was embroiled in a leadership crisis between former Governor Muazu Babangida, the Aliyu-led faction and the Tanko Beji camp for about seven years, which resulted in Aliyu's removal in as leader of the Nigerian PDP and his replacement by the wife of the late former governor, Engr. Abdullahi Abdulkadir Kure, Senator Zaynab Kure.
