2024 Winter Youth Olympics: Nigeria team land in Finland for qualifying

Team Nigeria has arrived in Lohja, Finland to compete in the World Junior-B Curling Championships which will take place from December 8-19, 2022.

Nigeria's junior curling team in Finland consists of 11 junior curlers (five boys and six girls) who traveled with two Curling Federation officials.

Those who will wear the green and white colors of Nigeria in Finland are; Danmola Adedamola, Chukwuemeka Daniel, Charles Idongesit, Umoren Aniedi and Kamsiyochukwu Emmanuel Dike. The others are Oku Jasmine, Uchegbu Nelly, Oku Olamide, Uchegbu Gift, Kalejaiye Deborah, and Oluwanimifise Wale-Adeogun.

Federation Youth Directors Charles Neimeth, Scott Hill and Lyne Laganiere will also join the team in Finland to provide the necessary support.

Team Nigeria lands in Finland for qualifying

Before leaving Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja on the way to France towards La Finland, the Nigerian contingent t expressed great optimism even as they promised to be good ambassadors for the country.

Team Nigeria will face 21 other countries in the men's category and 24 other teams in the women's category as they officially begin their quest to qualify for the 2024 Winter Youth Olympics to be held in Gangwon Province, South Korea.

The boys' team will start their campaign on Thursday, December 8, with openers against Latvia and Australia.

The Nigerian boys will next face Italy and Spain on Friday before facing Hungary and Poland in the third day of action.

Women's competition begins on Thursday, December 15 after the conclusion of the men's event.

According to organizers, all medal-winning teams will qualify for the 2023 World Junior Curling Championships to be held in Füssen, Germany, from February to March 2023.

Apart from Nigeria, Kenya is the only other African country that will compete in Finland.
