21-year-old steals boss' car to fund move abroad

Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 21-year-old man identified as Temple Samuel for stealing his boss's Lexus ES 330 car.

The suspect was arrested by members of the Lagos Rapid Response Brigade, according to a statement from Police Public Relations Officer Benjamin Hundeyin.

Hundeyin said Samuel was arrested along with three other people in the Ogba region of the state.

He identified those arrested with the suspect as 32-year-old Benjamin Bassey, 29-year-old Chukwuemeka Okorie and 37-year-old Joshua Agboche, who had conspired with him to sell the car.

The statement reads: "Investigation revealed that the suspect who works at his boss's car wash in Egbeda drove the car in the middle of the night, along with the iPhone X and iPhone 13 from his boss, to Bassey's house in Ikeja, he also fraudulently transferred 75,000 naira from his boss's account.

"The suspect had hatched plans to use the proceeds from the sale of the car and other valuables he stole to arrange his trip out of the country.

“Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alabi, has ordered that the matter be transferred to the State CID, Panti, for further investigation and prosecution.”
