3SC's NPFL-Mmobuosi Tournament Win Delights Ogunbote

Shooting Stars Sports Club Head Coach Gbenga Ogunbote believes his team played their hearts out after winning the first NPFL-DOZY Mmobuosi Super Cup pre-season tournament.< /p>

Oluyole Warriors showed courage to defeat Enyimba 3-2 on Friday in Lagos to win the N100m star award.

Anthony Okachi was the game winner for 3SC as he scored a late goal to seal the frantic game after coming down twice in the game.

The two teams had settled for a goalless draw when they met in the round robin phase of the tournament.

Ogunbote praised his players for their fighting spirit and is optimistic that victory will serve as a springboard for 3SC.

"I feel good and I'm happy because at the start no one gave us this chance. So we didn't just win, we deserved it and I hopefully we can build on that," Ogunbote said after the game.

Ogunbote is back in the dug-out 3SC for a second spell after leading them between 2012 and 2016. He joined the Ibadan side after a sensational run with Remo Stars during the NPFL season 2021/22, as he led Ikenne's side to a CAF Confederation Cup playoff spot in the league.

This time, he is fully aware of 3SC's need to get back into the Nigerian top flight challenger mix, while also welcoming strong competition from other clubs.

"We need to be realistic with our goals. Last season the team struggled, so this time around we need to be more comfortable. My goal is to finish in a sizable position and with this result the team would have established that fact that we have something to offer, and as such we look forward to stiffer and tougher opposition when the league begins,” Ogunbote said.
