For a city of just 4,000 people, Deauville has quite a sophisticated food scene, thanks to the influx of Parisians at weekends and tourists drawn here for horse racing , polo and the film festival. French-Korean couple Mi-Ra and Charles recently won a Michelin star for their creative fusion at L'Essentiel, which includes dishes such as tom yam prawns with salsify and horseradish.
The cozy La Flambée showcases local ingredients - try their andouille and onion millefeuille. Locals love Marion, a modern brasserie with a great lunch menu (€22) and desserts like tarte tatin with thick Norman cream. For a platter of oysters, prawns and crab, stroll over the bridge to Trouville and the Les Vapeurs brasserie, opposite the fish market.
