Abia government fires workers employed near end of Ikpeazu term
The Abia State government sacked all civil servants recruited towards the end of incumbent Governor Okezie Ikpeazu's tenure.
State Service Chief Joy Maduka said the relevant officials were recruited between December 2022 to date.
"Following the ongoing reorganization of the Abia State Civil Service, in accordance with the provisions of the Abia Civil Service Rules, I am writing to inform you that His Excellency Governor Alex Otti has ordered disengagement of all staff employed from December. 2022 to date.
“However, any further direction(s) from His Excellency in this regard will be communicated in due course. »
Speaking on the development, CPS Governor Chief Press Secretary Kazie Uko said the directive was a decision of the State Executive Council.
He described the job as campaign recruitment by the previous administration.
