Once again, Boniface bags are getting ready

Victor Boniface scored his second Bundesliga brace for Bayer Leverkusen who maintained their perfect start to the season – and so far climbed to the top – with a 5-1 victory over Darmstadt at the BayArena on Saturday.< /p>

Boniface has now scored five goals in four appearances in all competitions since joining Leverkusen in the summer. He has four out of three in the Bundesliga, all of which have come in his last two outings.

Boniface, widely expected to be rewarded with a Super Eagles call-up this week, opened the scoring in the 21st minute with a brilliant individual goal.

He completed his brace in the 61st minute to put Bayer 04 ahead 3-1.

He also provided an assist on his team's fourth goal in the 67th minute. Leverkusen now have nine points from their first three games of the new Bundesliga season.

His compatriot, Nathan Tella, also came on in the 72nd minute in place of Jérémie Frimpong. The former Southampton winger managed a shot on target when entering.

In the English Premier League, the duo Taiwo Awoniyi and Ola Aina were instrumental in Nottingham Forest's hard-fought 1-0 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

Summer rookie Anthony Elanga, who came on in the second half, struck shortly after the break when he ran over Awoniyi's pass to score the game-winning goal in the 48th minute. In defence, Aina's timely blocking denied Raheem Sterling a chance to score in the first half. Aina, who was making his third appearance, played 73 minutes before being replaced by Nuno Tavares.

At the Gtech Community Stadium, Frank Onyeka made his second appearance as a substitute of the season for Brentford who needed Bryan Mbeumo's equalizer in stoppage time to secure a 2-2 at home to Bournemouth on Saturday. The 25-year-old Nigerian came on as a 71st-minute substitute for Vitaly Janelt in his 50th game for the club.

In Italy, the duo Isaac Success and Festy Ebosele, an Irish player of Nigerian origin, replaced Lorenzo Lucca and Joao Ferreira after the hour mark for Udinese in the goalless draw at home against Frosinone. Maduka Okoye was an unused substitute for the match.

Victor Osimhen failed to shine for Napoli who were beaten by Lazio. The Partenopei lost 2-1.

In Spain, Umar Sadiq replaced Mikel Oyarzabal in the 79th minute as Real Sociedad won 5-3 against Granada to earn their first win of the season and extend their unbeaten run at home to 12 matches. It was Sadiq's third appearance as a substitute this season.
