Again, Forbes ranks Dangote the richest man in Africa

The chairman of pan-African conglomerate, Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has once again been ranked as Africa's richest man for 12 years, according to Forbes.

This was revealed on Tuesday in a statement titled "Forbes Index 2023: Dangote Still Africa Richest for 12th Straight Year".

He said Dangote, whose flagship company Dangote Cement Plc is the largest cement producer in Africa, is the only Nigerian in the top 200 richest men list world with an estimated net worth of $14.2 billion, up from $12.1 billion last year.

Recall that in June, the South African Johann Rupert was ranked as the richest man in Africa, according to Forbes magazine, with a net worth of 12 billion dollars.

The release reads: "Forbes, in its latest ranking of the world's billionaires for 2023, reported that falling stocks, injured unicorns and rising interest rates have resulted in a year down for the richest people in the world.

“Dangote, currently ranked 124th among the world's richest billionaires, is the only Nigerian among the world's top 200 billionaires and one of only two Africans in that bracket; with Johann Rupert of South Africa, who sells luxury goods at #157 with a net worth of $11.1 billion.

"Africa's richest man founded and chairs Dangote Cement, the continent's largest cement producer. Dangote Cement has a production capacity of 51.6 million tons per year in ten countries in sub-Saharan Africa, with integrated plants in seven countries, a clinker grinding plant in Cameroon and import and distribution facilities in Ghana and Sierra Leone.”
