Again, representatives postpone plenary

The House of Representatives postponed the plenary to November 22 to allow for the fumigation of the chamber.

House Clerk Yahaya Danzaria in a statement Wednesday announced the postponement.

On October 12, the House adjourned the plenary until November 15. The suspension of the plenary was to allow the committees to embark on the budget defense session.

Last week, Mr. Danzaria announced in a statement that lawmakers will hold a session on November 14 (Monday).

Normally, the House sits three days a week: Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

After Monday's plenary session, the Speaker of the House, Femi Gbajabiamila, adjourned until Wednesday. He did not give the reason for the Monday sitting or explain the reason for the adjournment to Wednesday.

Perhaps lawmakers made Tuesday a free plenary day to allow members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) party to attend the kickoff of his presidential campaign.

Bola Tinubu, the candidate of the ruling party launched his campaign in Jos on Tuesday in the presence of several party leaders.

Early on Wednesday, Mr. Danzaria released a statement that the plenary had been postponed until Thursday, but a few hours later announced that the plenary would now resume on November 22.
