Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu on Friday donated 50 patrol vehicles to all state security agencies as part of his administration's commitment to further strengthen security lives and property of the people of the state.

Akeredolu said the criminals would be expelled from nooks and crannies of the state.

He handed over the vehicles to the heads of state security agencies, including the military; Navy, Nigeria Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, Department of State Services and Amotekun Corps at the Governor's office, Alagbaka, the state capital Akure, on Friday.

Speaking, the governor said, the handover of 50 additional vehicles was a further demonstration of his administration's commitment to providing the necessary support to all security agencies operating in the state.

He said: "We still remember with trepidation the despicable act last month when daredevil terrorists who lost their souls to the devil launched an attack on St. Francis Catholic Church in the ancient city of Owo.

“One of my promises at the time to the people of Ondo State was to do everything humanly possible to strengthen the capacity of our security agencies to anticipate, prevent and combat the recurrence of the inhumanity of such a man towards humanity.

“Today, I am very pleased to order and hand over additional security equipment, especially equipped patrol vehicles, to security agencies operating in the state to enhance the capacity of our men in the carrying out their crime-fighting duties so that our people can go about their business and earn a living without fear of being molested or attacked.

"In doing so, the agencies would be better equipped and strengthened to carry out their constitutional duties to protect life and property and to combat crime in our beloved state.

“Let me point out that procuring and distributing vehicles to security agencies has been a recurring exercise in our state since we came on board. We did it for the umpteenth time. As government, we are aware of the shortcomings of our security agencies and we are ready, more than ever, to show solidarity because this affects the lives of our fellow citizens who elected us.

“I wish to reassure the good people of Ondo State of our avowed commitment to the constitutional responsibility of every government, namely the safety of the lives, property and welfare of the people, as stipulated 14 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended). This will remain our top priority."

In his address, the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladelusi Aladetoyinbo, commended the governor for his efforts to protect the life and property of the people.

He also called for the creation of a state police and better empowerment of the Amotekun Corps to bear arms to complement the efforts of security agencies in fighting crimes.< /p>
